Who We Are…

“The DuPage County Historical Society is a countywide, membership organization formed in 1929 to promote and celebrate the history of DuPage County, Illinois, USA. It does this primarily by issuing publications, maintaining a website, presenting programs, and partnering with other groups to support, sponsor, or host events. Membership is open to individuals, businesses, and organizations.

DuPage Roots, edited by Richard A. Thompson, was published by the DuPage County Historical Society in 1985. It has subsequently been updated for 2023. It features a new chapter on DuPage County history since 1985, as well as new histories for Burr Ridge, Bartlett, Oakbrook Terrace, and Willowbrook, and updated histories for all other municipalities. DuPage Roots: Then and Now represents a full historical record of DuPage County, its history and growth.

The DuPage County Historical Society continues to promote and preserve the history of DuPage County through publications, tours, lectures, the presentation of History Recognition Awards, and cooperative efforts with other DuPage County historical organizations.
